About Us

An initiative by NITI Aayog and AFMS in Patnership with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Defence in consultation with State Governments to leverage the superannuated Medical Teachers from the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) into the faculty system at various Govt Medical Colleges in the country.

The scheme is known as "SRESTA" (Scheme for Re-deployment of Superannuated Teachers of the AFMS). Under this scheme, the retired Medical Teachers of the AFMS system will be registered in a pool. The officers in this resource pool will be termed as the SRESTA National Medical Faculty (SNMF).

The superannuated AFMS Medical Teachers are eligible to register under this scheme. After registration, their names will get reflected in the SNMF resource pool for future Govt job opportunities. Currently, 12-14 states have formally confirmed their interest in the scheme and more states are expected to follow.

The AFMS Teachers who have proceeded on superannuation and are willing for registration under this scheme, are requested to submit their application for registration online. On approval of the application by AFMS nodal office (O/o DGAFMS/DG-1D), the AFMS teacher will get registered and will have access to the vacancies posted by various state/UT government medical colleges.
